Hivetumors are crude, weaker versions of Proto Hiveminds that belong in the Organoid tier.
Spawning
Every minute when a Brain Remnant placed by a Proto Hivemind on death (that hasn't been picked up or destroyed) exists, there is a 5% chance it will check in an 8x8x8 block area for at least 3 other Brain Remnants. If it finds them, all Brain Remnants will disappear within the range and spawn a Hivetumor in their place.
Evolution
After a Hivetumor has existed for 1200 seconds (20 minutes), she will Evolve into a Proto Hivemind. This, notably, does not cause the message "Endure..." to be sent in chat. However, if there is already a Proto Hivemind within 300 blocks, the Hivetumor will instead despawn and give 1000 biomass points to the nearest Proto Hivemind.
Basic Unique Behavior
When a Hivetumor spawns naturally, the message "Regrowth..." will be sent in chat for all players.
Hivetumors can see sapient mobs (players, Villagers, Illagers, Witches, etc.) through walls unless the target has Symbiosis. Hivetumors are also capable of seeing targets through walls if they have Marker or a max HP greater than 30 (x15 hearts).
Hivetumors are infestors. Every 5 minutes, within a 40 block radius (80 block diameter), they'll 'puff', converting random blocks into their Infested form and placing down various Foliage Blocks of any kind (excluding Stems). Additionally, if a Hivetumor attempts to infest a CDU, it will become clogged, meaning it no longer works. This can be fixed by breaking it and placing it back down.
Every 150 seconds, Hivetumors will give Madness I for 5 minutes with particles hidden to all sapient mobs (players, Villagers, Illagers, Witches, etc.) within a 128 block range.
A target wearing a Living Helmet MK2 will block Hivetumors from spreading Madness to them.
Hivetumors are completely ignored by the Despawning System.
Every Hivetumor will keep an internal storage of 'biomass points'. They passively gain 1 biomass point every 10 seconds. Hivetumors use biomass points to spawn Organoids (see below).
If a Hivetumor's target has more than 100 health (x50 hearts) or 20 armor (x10 bars), she'll start to panic. This panic behavior lasts for 5 minutes. Alternatively, she can start panicking if her health reduces to 50% or lower.
While a Hivetumor is panicking, multiple physical changes occur. Her pupil is shrunk by 0.75, her animations run 20% faster, she shivers, and she emits smoke particles. When a Hivetumor first starts panicking, she'll call all Spore Mobs in a 128 block range to attack her current target. Additionally, she generates 1 biomass point every 1 second instead of every 10 seconds.
When a Hivetumor has a target, she'll attempt to spawn Organoids around the target in waves in order to defend herself. There are two conditions that will prevent a Hivetumor from attempting to spawn Organoids: if the hardness of the block her current target is standing on is 4 or more and if there are already 5 or more Organoids within a 12 block range of the target. If either is true, she'll be unable to summon Organoids. Otherwise, she tries to summon 1 to 4 Organoids every 10 seconds within an 8 to 15 block range of her target except for Umarmers, which are spawned directly on top of the target. When a summoned Organoid tries to spawn, it checks for two things: if there are at least 3 blocks under the block it's trying to spawn on (4 blocks in total) and all mentioned blocks have a hardness of less than 4. If the conditions are met, the Organoid is capable of spawning. Each Organoid a Hivetumor spawns costs her 2 biomass points. The Organoids that Hivetumors are capable of summoning include Mounds, Umarmers, Usurpers, and Braureis.
Every minute, Hivetumors will Link any applicable Mobs within a 128 block range. They internally keep track of how many Mobs they've Linked that are currently alive.
The following listed mechanics are things that Proto Hiveminds can do but Hivetumors can't:
Hivetumors don't have a damage cap.
Hivetumors don't affect the Music System.
Hivetumors can't load the current chunk they're in.
Hivetumors can't summon Scents in combat.
Hivetumors can't puff when taking cold damage.
Hivetumors can't grant themselves Resistance when below 50% health.
Hivetumors can't grant themselves Fire Resistance when on fire.
Hivetumors don't do anything upon death (create a Signal, give Wither to Linked Spore Mobs, or place down block remains).
Hivetumors don't have a custom Body Heat value (in regards to Frostbite).
Hivetumors don't spawn with any biomass points.
Hivetumors can't despawn Spore Mobs for biomass points.
Hivetumors can't spawn Vigils, Verwahrungs, or Delusioners.
Hivetumors don't have a neural network.
Hivetumors don't have a Reinforcement System.
Hivetumors don't have a Raiding System.
Hivetumors can't build a biomass wall.
Hivetumors can't receive Signals.
Hivetumors don't affect the Proto World Modifier.
Behavior
Hivetumors are hostile to most non-Spore mobs, with the exceptions being Animals and Fish (unless Should attack Animals is enabled via the Config) and mobs included in the Mobs Not Targeted blacklist within the Config.
When Hivetumors either spawn or despawn, they'll display an emerging or burrowing animation. Unlike most Organoids, they can still be damaged in the emerging state.
Hivetumors are immune to negative effects that are not above amplifier I.
Hivetumors are stationary; immobile.
Hivetumors have a passive regeneration equivalent to about amplifier II. This is disabled while they are freezing.
Hivetumors can breathe underwater.
Present a weakness to the cold.
In regards to Frostbite, have a Body Heat of 2 and Enum Percentage of 7.5%.

Lore
Due to Hivetumors being less developed than Proto Hiveminds, they are unable to stay calm and focused in some situations, causing them to be able to panic. The smoke that emanates from them while panicking is caused by their brains overheating.

Trivia
The Hivetumor is a suggested Mob, coming from the mind of @malroktheiii in the Spore Asylum Discord server.
The panic behavior of the Hivetumor is inspired by when the YouTuber Karat Feng made Fungal Infection: Spore and the Sculk Horde mod fight each other. In the video, a Proto Hivemind started spamming Womb spawns, and Karat Feng described it as the Proto Hivemind "panicking".
The ambient sounds of Hivetumors have the Maltigi Scream included in them.
