Specters belong in the Combat Abnormal tier. They are extremely unique and proficient mobs.
Spawning
Spawned when a linked Infected Wandering Trader gets an evolution point by killing a mob and its evolution timer begins. If the evolution succeeds, they will become a Specter.
Spawned from Arena Tendrils as a special mob during a raid.
Unique Behavior
When having a target further than ~7 blocks away, the Specter will go fully invisible and run towards the target. When in this state, it won't make any idle noises and sculk detectors won't notice it. Once it gets within ~7 blocks of the target, it will become visible again.
When finding a container within a 20x4x20 block area that has food items in it, Specters will run up to it and eat the food inside. When eating the food, for each item it eats, it adds the hunger and saturation values together and adds that to its 'stomach' variable. Every 10 seconds, if the stomach variable is above 10, it decreases the value by 10 and adds 1 kill point. Once the container has run out of food, the Specter will break the container.
Whenever damaged, the Specter has a 10% chance to spawn a Scent. It also entirely ignores the local Scent cap.
The Specter will target and break light sources, CDUs, and TNT.
Inflicts the Blindness effect for 5 seconds when dealing melee damage.
The minimum amount of true damage a Specter can deal to a target is 25% of its base melee damage.
30% of the Specter's damage pierces through armor, meaning it ignores it.
Can fall from up to 19 blocks before taking fall damage.
Specters take 50% less fire damage.
Enhanced swimming: the Specter can move quickly underwater.
Able to breath underwater.
The Regeneration granted by kill points for Specters lasts 20 seconds instead of 10 seconds. Additionally, if a Specter is below 50% health, it'll be Regeneration II for 20 seconds.
The Specter has very high knockback, having 10x the knockback of a basic infected, with a value of 3 for knockback.
Specters have a step up height of 1, meaning they don't have to jump to go up one block.
Is able to climb up blocks.
Is completely ignored by the despawning system.
Will despawn during Proto World Modifier if they are at least 256 blocks away from a player.
Behavior
Specters are melee combatants, attacking mobs with Infected forms, golems, and most hostile mobs.
Specters inflict Mycelium Infection II for 10 seconds when dealing melee damage.
Has a follow range of 48 blocks.
Can perform low leaps/dashes to chase prey quickly through water.
Able to use kill points to give themselves buffs, such as strength or speed if the target is running away. They can also give themselves regeneration if they are low on health.
Capable of breaking blocks with a hardness of 3 or below.
Present a weakness to the cold, like all spore mobs.
