Wiki is currently undergoing a revamp! If you see some pages that are more polished, it means they've been revamped.
Agents are the method of applying different boosts to weapons and armor. Different types of Agents will apply different boosts, such as increased damage, durability, and enchantability for weapons and protection, durability, and enchantability for armor. They are not required, and you can add up to three Agents on any weapon or armor piece when crafting them in a Surgery Table, but only one of each agent type. When crafting Flesh and Plated armor into the Living set, if one of the items has any Agent buffs, they will carry over. If both of the items have Agent buffs, it will find the average of each of the buffs and apply that to the new item. Agent buffs will carry over when crafting the Living MK2 set as well.
Each agent type has a chance to increase a Mutation chance in the weapon or armor crafted. The more Agents you add, the higher the chance of a Mutation becomes.
