Wombs belong in the Organoid tier.
Spawning
Spawned when a signal is sent to a Proto Hivemind, in which it will spawn a Womb within a 12 block radius. A Proto Hivemind won't spawn a Womb after a signal has been received if all Calamities in a 300 block radius of the Proto Hivemind are sent (succeeding the 50% chance).
Unique Behavior
Wombs can eat Infected, Evolved, and Hyper Evolved with a 2.5% chance every tick to eat them if they get close enough. Each mob gives ten biomass. Depending on the fed mob's kill points will depend on the amount of additional biomass gained (e.g.: If a Knight has three kills and is fed to a Womb, the Womb gains three extra biomass.) Wombs will also passively gain one biomass every thirty seconds. Once a Womb reaches 100 biomass, it will spawn a Calamity.
Certain spawn conditions will dictate what type of Calamity spawns from a Womb. There are four main types, and they go as follows:
Land: Default spawning will spawn a land Calamity if other conditions aren't met. Calamities in this class include the Sieger and Howitzer.
Ground: The parent signal is below Y=63. The Hohlfresser is the only ground Calamity.
Water: The parent signal is below Y=70 and a water requirement needs to be met. In a 14x14x14 area around the parent signal location there needs to be seven or more water blocks. If there are, a water Calamity spawns. This class contains the Gazenbreacher.
Air: If the parent signal location is at Y=120+, an air Calamity spawns. Calamities in this class include the Hindenburg and Howitzer.
There's also a 30% that the Womb will spawn the incorrect Calamity type.
Wombs have 3 ages, each having a different size and stats and depending on how much biomass it has. After reaching 25% of the needed biomass but less than 50%, it will increase to age 2. Once above 50%, it increases to age 3, which is its max age. The size increase of the Womb is determined by the current size times the next age. This same calculation is used to determine the new stats.
If a Womb is killed in its final growth stage, it will spawn the Calamity at 50% health.
Every tick, Wombs have a 1% chance to call over all Infected, Evolved, and Hyper Evolved within a 50 block radius for it to eat. It does this by setting the mob's search position to the Womb, so the mobs will only come over if they aren't actively doing anything.
Every 2 seconds, Wombs will detect if they're suffocating in a wall or not. If a Womb is, it will attempt to break all blocks around itself. It can break blocks up to a hardness of 9.
Is completely ignored by the despawning system.
Womb Crafting System
The womb crafting system allows the Calamities born from Wombs to inherited traits from mobs that were consumed by the Womb. They are given custom attributes via a JSON based system. Specific mobs, if eaten by a Womb, will apply these attributes to the resulting Calamity, creating a lot of possible variety. A Calamity can have multiple attributes, and the level of each attribute caps out at level 64. Additionally, when right clicking a Womb in creative mode, it will display a UI of what mobs give what attributes.
Ballistic Attribute
Toxicity Attribute
Per Toxic Griefer variant and Noxious Phayres variant, the Calamity will deal an additional amplifier of Poison. The duration of the effect is always 20 seconds. Calamities with the toxic attribute appear dark green.
Laceration Attribute
Per Knight, Impaler Slasher variant, and Lacerator, the minimal melee damage the Calamity will deal is increased by 10%. Calamities with the laceration attribute appear red.
Corrosives Attribute
Per Spitter and Bile Spitter variant, the Calamity will deal an additional amplifier of Corrosion. The duration of the effect is always 20 seconds. Calamities with the corrosive attribute appear bright green.
Grinding Attribute
Per Infected Vindicator, Wendigo, and Axtwerfer, the Calamity will deal an additional 10 damage to the durability of every piece of armor the target is wearing. Calamities with the grinding attribute appear dark blue.
Localization Attribute
Per Braiomil and Brotkatze, the Calamity will deal an additional amplifier of Marker. The duration of the effect is always 20 seconds. Calamities with the localization attribute appear yellow.
Rejuvenation Attribute
Per Infected Witch, Volatile, and Hexenmeister, the Calamity will receive an additional amplifier of Regeneration when applying it via kill points. Calamities with the rejuvenation attribute appear purple.
Behavior

Trivia
Wombs are referred to as "Biomass Reformator" and "Reconstructor" in the code.
The ability to right click the Womb in creative to display the Womb Crafting System was originally done to make putting information about it on the wiki easier.
The Verwahrung prompted the mod creator to consider a redesign of the Womb, which did end up happening.
