Phayrie are a possible evolution of Infected Humans, belonging in the Evolved tier. They are defined as a support mob by the config.
Spawning
Spawned when an Infected Human gets an evolution point by killing a mob and its evolution timer begins. If the evolution succeeds, they have a 22.5% chance to become a Phayres.
Spawned from Arena Tendrils during the third wave of a raid.
Spawned from Verwahrungs.
Spawned from a Howitzer's large Flesh Bomb.
Unique Behavior
Phayrie are flying mobs, allowing them to reach targets at higher levels and overall making them more mobile than other mobs. Though, they are able to land on the ground and 'slither' around.
The Phayres can pick up spore mobs that are defined as disposable by the config, including Infected Humans, Infected Villagers, Infected Wandering Traders, Knights, Griefers, Slashers, Volatiles, Infected Vindicators, and Creepers. It'll look for mobs to pick up within a 32 block radius when not in combat. If the Phayres has a target, it will try to get 6 blocks above the target before dropping the mob. Once it gets within 3 blocks on both the X and Z axis, it'll drop the mob and give it Slow Falling II for 10 seconds. It is not required to be at the desired Y position to drop. The ability to pick up spore mobs is unique to the base variant, meaning other variants can't do this.
Capable of dragging targets closer to it from ~1.66 blocks, similar to the Slasher. They can't pull mobs when on the ground, however. This mechanic is unique to the base variant.
20% of Phayrie are variated. The Phayres has three variants, meaning a 6.6% chance for each variant.
The Kidnapper Phayres has a 1.2x size increase. It will attempt to pick up its target and drop them from a large height, including players. This variant has 2x health and armor.
The Kamikaze Phayres, when reaching below 50% health, will attempt to get near a target and blow up with a blast strength of 2 and leave a lingering cloud of Mycelium Infection III for 10 seconds and Marker for 30 seconds.
Noxious Phayrie are ranged combatants, firing groups of stingers that inflict Poison III for 10 seconds and Mycelium Infection for 10 seconds.

Trivia
The plural form of Phayres is 'Phayrie.'
The creator of the Phayres' model (Box) actually hates the model he created for it. He apparently hated the idea of any kind of flying or swimming mob in the mod.
The Noxious Phayres is also referred to as the 'Stinger' or 'Toxic' variant (Stinger by the community and Toxic in the code.)
The Phayres' ID is "busser", which was going to be the original name of the mob. They are also sometimes referred to as a 'bussy' by the Discord server staff. This is because a member of staff, Dr. Pilot, called it a 'bussy' due to the ID.
