Leviathans are water Calamities.
Spawning
Spawned from a Womb when the parent signal is below Y=70 and in a 14x14x14 area around the parent signal location there are seven or more water blocks.
Unique Behavior
Enhanced swimming: the Leviathan can move much quicker in water than other mobs. Her tail also opens up when in water.
However, when on land, she will crawl very slowly like a centipede with her legs via procedural animation. When on land, her tail is folded up.
Able to breath underwater.
If the Leviathan's target is out of her melee range, she will shoot 1 - 3 acid ball projectiles every 2 seconds that inflict the Corrosion II effect for 15 seconds. If the target is hit by a corrosive projectile while they already have Corrosion, the amplifier will be increased by 1. The projectiles' damage scales with velocity, meaning the faster they are, the more damage they do. She won't shoot projectiles when she's in water.
When being hit by a non-spore mob for 10 or more damage, there's a 20% chance that 3 - 6 Drowned Flesh Bombs will be shot out in random directions from each segment. These bombs take 4 seconds to explode and give either Mycelium Infection, Wither, or Weakness for 9 seconds to nearby non-spore mobs. Some Drowned Flesh Bombs will rise in liquids, the others fall to the ground.
Hitting the front of the Leviathan while its mouth is closed does 50% less damage. If the Leviathan's mouth is open, it takes x2 damage.
The segments will always try to follow behind the main body. These segments ignore collision with blocks.
If a segment of the Leviathan is damaged, the main body HP will be damaged instead. The main body HP is the Leviathan's proper health.
Additionally, if any part of the Leviathan receives a positive effect or Glowing, all parts (including the innards) will receive it.
Leviathans, when idle with no objective and not in an Ocean biome, will search in a 128 chunk range. If finding an Ocean biome, she will set it as her objective and start making her way towards it.Â
If the Leviathan is completely submerged in water, she will appear tinted to the color of the water to players above the surface, making her hard to spot. If a player is in the water, the tint will disappear from the Leviathan.
The Leviathan has a 0.3% chance to perform her spore burst ability every tick and can only be successful if the target is within ~14.4 blocks; or a 20% chance when taking cold damage. She will summon a Scent and give Speed, Conduit Power (both for 30 seconds at amplifier I,) and Resistance for 30 seconds at amplifier II to all allies within a 16 block radius. The spore burst will also apply debuffs to mobs within a 16 block radius. The debuffs include Mining Fatigue for 30 seconds at amplifier I, Mycelium Infection, and Hunger (both for 30 seconds at amplifier II.)
When performing a spore burst, all Infected, Evolved, Hyper Evolved, Bairns, Scampers, and Gastgebers within a 16 block radius will receive 0 - 3 kill points.
Additionally, when doing a spore burst, all CDUs within a 16 block radius will be clogged, meaning they no longer work. They can be fixed by breaking them and placing them back down.
Leviathans have three possible custom death messages, being "<player> was eaten by Leviathan", "<player> was crushed by Leviathan", and "<player> was dismantled by Leviathan". 50% of the damage Leviathans do is custom 'calamity damage 1', this solely affects the death message. If it fails, 50% chance to deal 'calamity damage 2'. If that fails, 50% chance to deal 'calamity damage 3'.
Behavior
Leviathans are melee combatants and ranged combatants, attacking mobs with Infected forms, golems, and most hostile mobs.
Leviathans inflict Mycelium Infection II for 30 seconds when dealing melee damage.
Essentially has Sweeping Edge, as their attack has an AOE.
Leviathans have a step up height of 1.5, meaning they don't have to jump to go up blocks that are 1.5 blocks tall.
The minimum amount of true damage a Leviathan can deal to a target is 30% of its base melee damage, however the Womb Crafting System can increase that.
Can fall from up to 28 blocks before taking fall damage.
Has a follow range of 64 blocks.
Leviathans are influenced by signals and objectives (explained on the Proto Hivemind page.)
Leviathans can become rooted (explained on the Calamities page.)
Leviathans can summon Scents (explained on the Calamities page.)
Will summon an age 1 Mound when reaching a new objective location.
Leviathans can increase their armor by killing skeletons (explained on the Calamities page.)
Can summon Vigils when below 50% health (explained on the Calamities page.)
Leviathans load chunks when following signals to new objectives.
When dying, Leviathans will place a variety of blocks and Corpse Pieces in their death location (explained on the Calamities page.)
Leviathans can be affected by the womb crafting system (explained on the Womb page.)
Leviathans are immune to debuffs that are not above amplifier one.
Leviathans have a 5% chance to drop a Scent upon death.
Leviathans have very high knockback, having 10x the knockback of a basic infected, with a value of 3 for knockback.
Leviathans have 1.0 knockback resistance, meaning they can't be knocked back by attacks.
Leviathans do not attempt to group together, nor do they follow mobs. They are lone hunters.
Evolved mobs will follow Leviathans.
Can perform low leaps/dashes to chase prey quickly through water.
Able to use kill points to give themselves buffs, such as strength or speed if the target is running away. They can also give themselves regeneration if they are low on health.
Capable of breaking blocks with a hardness of 5 or below.
Have a damage cap of 100 (x50 hearts.)
Present a weakness to the cold, like all spore mobs.

Lore
The Leviathan is meant to resemble the fear of large whales, notably the fictional whale Moby Dick.
With the large tusks on the front of the Leviathan, it allows her to ram into ships, impaling them with her tusks. The backwards hooks on the tusks keep the boat hooked to her. She can then open her mouth to rip the tusks out of the ship, creating massive holes that cause the boat to sink.

Trivia
The Leviathan is a suggested mob, coming from the mind of @slasherwolf_ in the Spore Asylum Discord server.
The Leviathan is inspired by and shares a remarkably similar design to Shadow Leviathans from Subnautica.
They are additionally based on whales, submarines, and centipedes.
The Leviathan uses she/her pronouns and is cis and lesbian. She is also dating the Gazenbreacher.
There was originally an entire other model created for the Leviathan, based on The Tormentor from Dead Space. However, it didn't fit the vision for the Leviathan, and was scrapped. The creator of the model, Slasher, was also very unhappy with how it was turning out.
She was originally going to have a leap mechanic, in which when idle and in a body of water, she would leap out of the water. It was purely cosmetic, though the mod creator was having a hard time implementing it, so it was scrapped.
The Leviathan's innards glow in the dark.
